Open for Business
This blog came into being when I joined CD, because at that time, WordPress automatically created a personal blog for you when you opened an account. At that time, I had a feeling that I wanted to do something with it, but I didn’t know what. I do now.
So with a new look and a new sense of purpose that I declare Daran’s Blog open for business.

For what it’s worth, I think it’s looking really sharp.

I agree with Amp.
And it shows 15 recent comments!

I think “Darain Man” would make a good name for the blog, not just for a post.

Thanks. My criteria for a theme were:
1. Reasonably minimalist, no huge images.
2. Two columns.
3. Dark writing on light background.
4. Good contrast between text and background.
5. Good contrast between visited links, unvisited links, and unlinked text.
6. Rounded edges.
7. Widgets.
None of the available themes met every criterion. This one (“Ocadia”) comes close but it fails on Criterion 5. The text/background contrast could be better as well.
The only other theme that came close was “Saphire”. I also like “Silver is the New Black”, but Toy Soldier uses that one, and I didn’t want to duplicate his.

Hmmm, not sure about that. It was a good joke, which integrated well with content of the post, but I’m not sure whether I’m going to emphasise the Aspie side of me in the future content of the blog.

I don’t think “Darain Man” would emphasize the Aspie side of things to an uninitiated reader, but the “Rain Man” reference would bring to mind your relentlessness and single-mindedness in argument. And it would also make one think of “Main Man” – so it would be both self-deprecating and self-aggrandizing at the same time, which is what many successful blog-names manage to be. “Daran’s Blog” on the other hand suggests little beyond the fact that your name is probably Daran and that you own a blog.

What do you think of “Da Rain Man”?

Perhaps a little too Ali G?

Perhaps I should capitalise the R amd subcript the i and “man” – DaRain Man
Edit: Ok, so subscripts don’t work in comments. Let’s play with the title…

Subscripts don’t work in titles either. How does that look?

I think it works. You could create an image in Illustrator with the subscripts and then upload it, depending on if this theme allows you to edit banners.

Dunno, but I like it as it is.
